On January 15, the second stage of Open Call in the Federation For Fire Plus project was launched. Only completed experiments from the Stage 1 are eligible to participate in this competition. Applications will be accepted until April 13, 2021.

The next version of the SSH Open Marketplace website has been launched. At this stage, the project, for which the graphic design and implementation of backend services is the responsibility of the PSNC Digital Libraries Department, received a positive opinion.

The activities in the eDWIN project (Internet Platform for Consulting and Decision Support in Integrated Plant Protection) have already passed the halfway point, involving IT and agriculture specialists. On this occasion, we recall the context of the project and its planned results.

The SESAR JU project “GOF 2.0 Integrated Urban Airspace Validation”, with a consortium of 13 members, including PSNC, will focus on the safe, secure, and sustainable integration of unmanned aerial vehicle operations in urban airspace and kicked-off at the end of January.

As part of the work carried out by PSNC in the NLPQT project, the laboratory was equipped with a system for advanced modeling and simulation of GNSS signals/systems. The environment will allow for to study various scenarios of the GNSS signals application, in particular its integration with other systems – autonomous vehicles, sensors, etc.

Thanks to the service prepared in cooperation between the Digitisation and Cybersecurity Bureau, the Plenipotentiary of the Mayor of Poznan for Smart City and PSNC, passengers of public transport in the Poznan agglomeration will receive information about the exact time of arrival of a bus or tram. The implementation of the GTFS Realtime system is the next step in the digital transformation of the capital of Wielkopolska region.

As part of the activities carried out in the NLPQT project, PSNC equipped its laboratories with advanced sets of measurement and transmission devices. The equipment was purchased to build a quantum key distribution network. It is a practical application of quantum communication technology to set up encrypted connections secured by the laws of quantum mechanics.

The Foundation for the Development of the City of Poznan has launched a new project consisting of interviews with interesting people related to the capital of Wielkopolska Region. POZcast – let’s talk about Poznań is an initiative that brings the functioning and development of Poznań to a wider audience. PSNC is the technological partner of this project.

The European mining industry is increasingly looking for solutions to redesign traditional mining processes through the adoption of pioneering innovations, accompanied by the extensive use of data analytics and new types of technology use, in particular the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The EU-funded illuMINEation project will create a multi-level distributed IIoT platform, which will be developed by a consortium created together with PSNC.

At the beginning of 2021, a new parallel processing system (HPC supercomputer), purchased under the PRACE-LAB project, will be put into operation. This system, included in the TOP500 list of the fastest computers in the world, is the result of building a national, distributed HPC system for parallel computing, financed under the OP IR structural funds, measure 4.2 in the field of research infrastructure of particular importance for Poland.

​Traditionally, at the beginning of December, the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Jerzy Duszyński, distinguished personalities with the most outstanding scientific achievements in the past year. Among the winners is Prof. Jan Węglarz, co-founder and long-time Director of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.
