As early as September this year, after nearly four years of intensive work, will result in one of the biggest projects in recent years for the scientific community – “PLATON Science Services Platform.” Through this project, the scientific and academic community is equipped with 5 new services: videoconferencing services, eduroam services, campus services, archiving services and scientific HD TV services. This nationwide project is implemented by 22 Members of the PIONIER Consortium representing the leading R&D centers in their regions.

The registration of 4K material is mostly associated with large, professional and sophisticated camcorders. Recently, it is fair to say that it is not totally true! Employees of PSNC Network Department, for the first time in Poland, tested a small 4K camera, which captures 60 frames per second and has a live entrance!

Two innovative computing systems, installed late last year at Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), have recently been made available for the Polish scientific community.

Activities performed by PSNC Digital Libraries Team in frame of the IMPACT project resulted in a set of full text versions of selected Polish historical documents from four digital libraries in Poland.

Distributed Catalogue of Polish Libraries (KaRo), allowing to search the contents of library catalogues from several Polish libraries (including National Union Catalogue and the National Library) is available in the new version – KaRo 3.

To celebrate the upcoming Christmas, the participants of the scientific HDTV services of the PLATON project , in collaboration with various centers, created a videoshowing a unique, pre-Christmas atmosphere. The film editing was made in the film center of the city of Łódź.

Conference4me, the conference mobile assistant, has been deployed for the seventh IEEE e–Science conference, sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society´s Technical Committee for Scalable Computing (TCSC), which will be held in Stockholm, Sweden from 5th – 8th December 2011.

The Researchers’ Night was once again a success! Thousands of people, regardless of age, visited hundreds of stands and laboratories. As every year the attractions prepared by the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry and PSNC aroused great interest.
