This decision marks the start of the full project work. The project will be implemented by 21 partners, and its leader is the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

The PIONIER-LAB project is the answer of the Polish scientific community to important problems related to conducting research activities in Poland, cooperation between the industry and science and the innovation in the Polish industry. These problems have been identified in the project as insufficient national research infrastructure, difficult access to this infrastructure and low innovation rate in cooperation between the industrial sector and research centers. The direct objective of the project is to build and make available the PIONIER-LAB research platform – National Platform for Integration of Research Infrastructures with Innovation Ecosystems. The platform will be available for the scientific community, enterprises, and interested entities focused around entrepreneurship pre-incubators, which are based on the national research infrastructure and innovative services, integrating Polish environments conducting research and development works for smart growth purposes.

The platform will constitute an advanced and modern research environment enabling R&D and innovation, especially in the area of the information society that is gaining more and more importance. The PIONIER-LAB platform will be an offer of the Polish scientific community for the indutry, enabling the integration of science and business in order to increase the role of research and innovation in the Poland.

The PIONIER-LAB project assumes the support through living labs, which will become a space for joint research and development activities of scientific units and companies – a bridge for future innovations, where research processes will be linked to the real needs of users. On the other hand, entrepreneurship pre-incubators focused around the PIONIER-LAB platform will become a new information and communication space providing support and mentoring for students, doctoral students, researchers, scientific or scientific-industrial consortia.

The project is financed under the Intelligent Development Operational Program 2014-2020 (Priority IV: Increasing the scientific and research potential, Measure 4.2. Development of modern research infrastructure in the science sector).
