PSNC as a co-organiser of the 5th Urban Development Forum

On October 13 and 14, the 5th edition of the Urban Development Forum will be held – an international conference on urban issues. The topic around which the discussion will focus is “Consciousness as a source of new (?) trends”. The event is organized by the City of Poznan, MTP Group, the Association of Polish Cities, the Union of Polish Metropolises and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

This year’s edition of the Forum, which has become a permanent event in the calendar of the City of Poznan, will be an opportunity to present the most interesting and valuable solutions. The topics to be discussed include:

1. A 15-minute city (changes in the functioning of municipal institutions, environment, space, architecture, greenery, transport solutions as a system enabling pedestrian access to daily services in the vicinity of the place of residence, limiting the need for mobility, counteracting the monoculture of districts and suburbanization processes, as well as favoring the development of relationships with the city and neighborhood relations).

2. Post-coronavirus urban development priorities (changes in the way of thinking about city development visible in the transformations of public institutions and the way local communities operate, as well as new indicators of the quality of life in the city, corresponding to the assumptions of the green economy and limited consumption).

3. Local community as a source of urban resilience (mechanisms of institutional support for the ingenuity and resourcefulness of inhabitants being a key factor allowing them to survive in the face of crises and tensions and enabling adaptation to changing conditions of urban life).

During the first day of the event, a presentation entitled “A city open to innovation in the era of digital transformation” will be given by Cezary Mazurek, Ph.D. – Director of PSNC and Adam Olszewski from PSNC Future Labs.
