PSNC seminar: Prof. Iwona Ługowska “MOSAIC – challenges in the use of AI algorithms in biomedical and clinical research”
On Monday, December 6, 2021, we invite you to the second PSNC open seminar. The speaker will be Prof. Iwona Ługowska, PhD, from the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Institute of Oncology – National Research Institute. The topic of the seminar is “Oncology – MOSAIC – challenges in the use of AI algorithms in biomedical and clinical research”.

The event is organised as part of PSNC’s series of open seminars “Challenges for the IT infrastructure of science in the era of digital transformation”.

Prof. Iwona Ługowska is a clinical oncologist, Plenipotentiary of the Director of the National Cancer Institute for international cooperation. Prof. Ługowska is also a consultant of the Department of Soft Tissue, Bone and Melanoma Tumors, Oncology Center Institute, a member of the EORTC Board, ESMO Publishing Working Group, Bioethics Committee of the Oncology Center, coordinator of the Scientific and Industrial Center at the Oncology Center Institute and coordinator of EURACAN (European Reference Network). Professor received an honorable mention for her PhD thesis on prognostic factors in pediatric malignant bone tumors, in addition she was awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology – ASCO IDEA Program (internship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York), laureate of FLIMS 2015, EORTC-NCI-ASCO 2010 and the Talent in Oncology Programme – the Global Learnings in Oncology Workgroup (TOP/GLOW 2011-2013. Prof. Ługowska was also awarded two ESMO scholarships (2010 and 2015), two scholarships of the Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences (NIHES) – Clinical Trials Methodology (2010) and Clinical Decision Modelling (2011), received the Gliwice Oncology Centre Director’s Award for her scientific work and completed an internship on the conduct and organisation of early phase clinical trials at the Sir Bobby Robson Cancer Trials Research Centre in Newcastle, UK. In 2019, Prof. Ługowska received the Woman of Success of Mazovia award.
