PSNC supports the project “Simple language in public institutions”

“Simple language in public institutions” is a new course in the offer of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. It was created for people working in the field of public communication, participating as senders or receivers in the circulation of official messages. The partners of the project are the City of Poznan and PSNC.

As part of the new course, students will learn how to create and edit texts so that they are simple, correct and comprehensible to the audience. The learning basis will be various types of official letters from many institutions and companies in Poland, including the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Supreme Chamber of Control, units belonging to the Association of Kalisz-Ostrow Agglomeration and selected Marshal Offices. Students will also have access to the Official Texts Database (Baza Tekstów Urzędowych), created in cooperation with the Poznan City Hall and the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

This is a study with a practical dimension. Out of the 180 hours of classes, only 6 are devoted to lectures. The rest of the program is filled with exercises and workshops conducted by academics from the Institute of Polish Philology: Prof. UAM Jarosław Liberek, PhD, Karolina Ruta-Korytowska, PhD, Prof. UAM Przemysław Wiatrowski, PhD and Prof. UAM Marta Wrześniewska-Pietrzak, PhD.

The studies are part-time and last two semesters. They have the form of conventions, which will be held mostly twice a month – Friday afternoon classes in a remote form, and Saturday classes at the Faculty.

Detailed information about the course and recruitment rules can be found on the website of the Faculty of Polish and Classical Philology.
