At this year’s Supercomputing Asia (27.02.-2.03.2023, Singapore), the largest HPC conference held in Asia, the global cooperation within the Alliance of Supercomputing Centres (ASC) was inaugurated. Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center is among the nine members of supercomputing centres from around the world.
The Supercomputing Asia conference has been organized since 2012 in cooperation with supercomputing centres from Australia, Japan, Singapore and Thailand, under the auspices of the National Supercomputing Centre (NSCC) in Singapore. Every year, the event has attracts many scientists and engineers, as well as representatives of the business world. This year’s edition was held under the theme “Sustainable Supercomputing for a Greener Future.”
During the event, a meeting of the Alliance of Supercomputing Centre group was inaugurated, which was attended by the Deputy Director of PSNC – Krzysztof Kurowski, PhD, The joint cooperation was declared by RIKEN-CCS (Japan), CSC-IT (Finland), SDSC (USA), NCI (Australia), Pawsey (Australia), ThaiSC (Thailand), KAUST (Saudi Arabia) and NSCC (Singapore). The group’s mission will be to carry out joint projects, share experience, as well as to coordinate and collaborate on the global challenges posed to large HPC centers by science, economy and society.
At the November GÉANT General Assembly (GA) meeting, its members voted for four open GÉANT Board Member positions. Cezary Mazurek, Ph.D., Director of the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center has been elected to this prestigious group.
HPC data storage system built and operated by PSNC has been ranked on the prestigious IO500 list (https://io500.org/), that compares the fastest HPC data storage systems in the World. PSNC reached #10 within the IO500’s Production category and #161 on the Full list.
The European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) HPC4Poland, led by the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center, has received the BDVA i-Space Gold award for the quality and high level of advancement of available research and innovation in hubs across Europe.

The European High Performance Computing Joint Undertaking (EuroHPC JU) has launched a call for tender for the installation of EuroQCS-Poland, the EuroHPC quantum computer to be located in Poland.
The first meeting as part of the EDIH HPC4Poland project took place in the PSNC Future Labs spaces on November 9, 2023. The consortium met to refine operational and business processes. One of the largest Polish scientific events related to biomedical engineering returns to Poznan. We are talking about the 5th edition of the Biomedical Engineering Conference, which will take place at Poznan University of Technology on October 26-27, 2023. "Quantum-ready, future-ready" - this was the slogan of this year's European Quantum Technology Conference (EQTC) held in Hannover. The event, held every two years, is an opportunity to bring together the European community developing and implementing quantum technologies - quantum computing, quantum communications and quantum metrology. It is an opportunity to meet both the scientific community and companies that commercialise and implement solutions based on quantum technologies.
Nearly 100 exhibitors, almost 2,000 visitors and over 50 speakers - these are the numbers of this year's fourth edition of Smart City Expo Poland held in Łódź on October 18-19, 2023. PSNC's exhibition booth will showcase projects implemented by the Internet of Things Technologies department, the Smart Kampus laboratory within the PIONIER-LAB project and other projects implemented around IoT and mobile applications.
On October 18 and 19, 2023, the final conference of the DARIAH-PL project will be held at the PSNC headquarters. The event will be an opportunity to summarise the three-year project implementation and to present its results. Participants will learn about the solutions and resources developed in various areas of the humanities and arts sciences, as well as the Dariah.lab infrastructure integrating these solutions.
Presentation of the ambisonic installation at the ISSET International Symposium on Sound Engineering and Tonmeistering
The ISSET International Symposium is organised every two years by the Polish Section of the Audio Engineering Society togetherwith Polish Radio S.A., the Warsaw University of Technology and Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. This unique event brings together many professionals, music school graduates, enthusiasts and educators. This year's edition of the Symposium (October 12-14, 2023) was attended by representatives of the PSNC, presenting their original ambisonic installation.
British quantum computer developer ORCA Computing has been selected by the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC) to provide two ORCA Computing PT-1 quantum photonics systems. Funded under the Polish program, the systems will be installed at the PSNC’s high-performance computing data center located in Poznań, Poland and will accelerate its work in quantum computing across a range of scientific and application areas including biology, chemistry and machine learning.

SLICES is a new research infrastructure on the ESFRI (European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures) roadmap, bringing together 21 partners from 14 countries. The aim of the current work in the consortium is to secure support from member states and the European Commission in the process of building a modern research infrastructure for research on a European scale. The 49/2022 issue of "Polityka" weekly featured an article prepared by the National Information Processing Institute (OPI) on several projects from the Polish Roadmap for Research Infrastructures: PRACE-LAB, NLPQT, DARIAH. Two of these projects - PRACE-LAB and DARIAH - are coordinated by the Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center. PSNC is also a partner in the NLPQT project.
