The European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Visits PSNC Headquarters

On 9 May 2025 the European Commissioner for Budget, Anti-Fraud and Public Administration – Piotr Serafin and Polish Minister for European Union Affairs – Adam Szłapka were PSNC’s guests at the Centre’s headquarters near the picturesque Malta lake in Poznań. The visit was concerning the creation of the PIAST-AI factory in the Capital of Wielkopolska.

According to the European Commission, the Old Continent is going to become the AI world leader in the near future. That ambitious plan is hinted at in the name of the “AI Continent” program, which was officially announced on 9 April 2025. PIAST-AI is set to be one of several AI factories in Europe, and PSNC, as its host, will join other renowned European institutions responsible for research and development of artificial intelligence.

The already operating network of European supercomputers is going to play a key role in the AI innovations, providing computing power and data plus talents and skills of scientists from the facilities where those machines are based.

The PIAST-AI factory project is helmed by PSNC with partners such as the Poznań University of Technology, the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, the Wielkopolska ICT Cluster and other regional clusters or innovation hubs in Poland. The investment is supported by the Polish Ministry of Digital Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education with the Ministry of Finance as the coordinator of the process.
