“The Practice of Computer Science Specialist ” 2010: Two winners
“Automatic recognition of musical notation” and “Artificial intelligence and agent systems in computer games” turned out to be the best theses in the competition of Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center and the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry PAS in 2010.

Victory had to be divided into three students, two of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań and one of University of Science and Technology in Cracow. Prize for the second place went to the authors of the thesis on transactional memory of Poznań University of Technology (“Design and Implementation of Distributed Software transactional memory (DSTM) “). Third place went to the thesis “Detection of crime with the use of information from Internet sources”, written by a student of the University of Economics in Poznań.

Prize in the competition was participation in special workshops with the participation of practicing entrepreneurs of IT industry. During the workshop, the authors will confront the ideas described in their theses with the opinions and guidelines from practitioners in the industry.

For this year’s competition 21 theses has been reported, mainly from the Poznań universities. One of the main criteria for judging was innovation, and a requirement that the described applications can be used in information and communication technologies (ICT).
