3rd Brain Awareness Week in Poznan
3rd Brain Awareness Week will be held in Poznan from 14th to 18th March. Co-organizers of the event are the Department of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poznan and Poznan Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of Polish Academy of Sciences. Live broadcast of the event will be prepared by Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center.

Brain Awareness Week is organized in Poland for the twelfth time. This event aims to popularize knowledge about the brain, as well as progress in the study of this important organ. In Poland, the accompanying events will be held among others in: Warsaw (12th edition), Krakow (10th edition), Lublin (6th edition), Poznan (3rd edition) and Katowice (2nd edition).

Participants of, organized in the capital of Wielkopolska region, the third Brain Week will focus on the issues of psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, anthropology and evolution. Nine colorful lectures will introduce us to the world of our brain and will attempt to answer the following questions:

• do our addicts cheat our brain?
• do we have free will?
• how the integration of our functions develop from the viewpoint of evolution?
• causes of the differences between us
• how the brain manages our attention
• how to live with anorexia and ADHD
• why the right hemisphere of the brain works differently than the left

Broadcast “live” from all meetings will be prepared by Education and eLearning Systems Team from PSNC. The transmission will be realized with three cameras available in form of a video stream of two data rates: 1,4 Mbit/s i 960×540 pixels and 0,9 Mbit/s and 640×360 pixels.

After the conference, there will be a possibility to to review or download the video content. Persons who did not participate in the previous edition of Brain Week, are encouraged to read the archives.

It is worth to mention that, in view of the large number of people interested in direct participation in lectures, this year also will display an image of the workshops outside the conference room.
