This year’s edition of the Researchers’ Night, which is a very popular event among the children and adults in Poznan, will be held entirely on-line. On November 27, the organizers invite the participants to a virtual studio to a “live” broadcast, and viewers will have access to 8 thematic channels. Damian Niemir (PSNC) talks about this unique event on Radio TOK FM.

The second episode of the ITM_talks online discussion, organized by the MTP Group, was devoted to the autonomy of robots and the digital transformation of the industry. The panel was attended by dr Krzysztof Kurowski – Technical Director of PSNC.

In the weekly “Polityka” you can read an article about technologies that help to monitor apiaries. The author mentions the EU project DEMETER, which is to promote the use of IoT sensors in agriculture. PSNC is the partner of this project.

On the “Cultural Base” (polish: “Kultura u Podstaw”) portal of the Culture Department of the Marshal’s Office in the Wielkopolska Region we can read an interview with Jan Skorupa from PSNC’s New Media Department. The interview discusses, among others, the issues of development works conducted at PSNC within the CBPIO and FutureLabs projects.

The opening session of this year’s TNC conference was scheduled for today, 8 June 2020. As in previous years, PSNC was supposed to act as a technological partner. Unfortunately, the organizers, due to the persisting coronavirus epidemic, decided to postpone the conference for a year.

Immersive media change the perception of cinema. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, cinemas around the world remain closed. David Davies in his article on the IBC365 portal is trying to answer the question: which technologies can encourage viewers in the future to return to this form of entertainment? One of the responders is Maciej Głowiak – Head of PSNC New Media Department.

PSNC created an application for the VOX furniture brand that integrates numerous tools for modern remote customer service. Nowadays, in the era of coronavirus epidemics and restrictions associated with the virus, this application becomes very popular.

More and more often, modern technologies are perceived by artists and art creators as a potential inspiration and a kind of artwork material. One of the main goals of the Vertigo STARTS initiative, created under the aegis of the European Commission in Horizon 2020, is to stimulate synergy between artists or cultural institutions, and research and development institutes in the field of IT technologies. Last year’s edition of the program was attended by a conceptual artist from Berlin – Theresa Schubert, who resided at PSNC within the current project.

Recently, the media have been publishing many materials on PSNC and the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences’ participation in projects aimed at fighting the coronavirus epidemic. The press articles about the involvement of our Centre in such initiatives are available, among others, on the portal sztucznainteligencja.org.pl.

During last year’s European Robotics Week, PSNC presented robot applications in its own projects and products related to education, medicine, agriculture, new media and digital libraries. Alicja Laskowska from the Future Internet Services Department summarized the event.

What tools can students, teachers and parents use in their home education? Questions about remote learning in Radio Emaus were answered by the Technical Director of PSNC (CTO) Dr Krzysztof Kurowski.

Bartosz Walter, Ph.D. from PSNC Department of Scientific Data Platform Services performed as an expert on youtube popular science channel “Projekt Alpha”, run by the journalist Radek Brzozka. The program touched on the role of the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center and the Eagle supercomputer in the Polish scientific community. The possibilities of quantum computers were also discussed.
