i3 2010 in numbers
The second edition of i3 Conference: Internet – Infrastructures – Innovations held in Wroclaw is behind us. Although the window there was a truly arctic weather in the halls of sessions the atmosphere was hot.
This year’s meeting in the capital of Lower Silesia was a continuation of last year’s first edition of the conference organized by the PIONIER Consortium in Poznan. This time the participants met in Wroclaw, hosted by Wroclaw Supercomputing and Networking Center and Wroclaw Technical University.

This year’s i3 was entitled:”E-Science as the key to development”. The importance of the subject is confirmed by the number of participants and the number of scheduled speeches and lectures – a total 226. The greatest interest was the first day of the Conference, during which there are 194 participants. In the second and third day was attended by 185 and turn 124 people.

In total over 34 hours of lectures and speeches were delivered 88 papers. Topics presented during the conference focused mainly around the Future Internet. Two sessions were devoted to this issue, as well as issues of eHealth and eEducation. The conference organizers wanted to broaden its subject matter beyond the scope of interest of IT professionals. According to this, a session for a wider audience – “Social applications of the Internet” was prepared. The subjects of “Reliability and safety”, “New media” and “Service platforms” will surely be interesting for many of the participants.

Participants in this year’s i3 emphasized as a large number of interesting substantive speeches and their interdisciplinary character. It seems that the goal of the organizers – a broader understanding of treatment and the Internet – has been achieved.

In the future, 2011, i3 Conference will return to Poznan. Already, we invite all to the capital of Wielkopolska.
