Presentation of PSNC projects at Agro Show 2021

Last weekend (September 24-26), during the largest International Agricultural Exhibition in Poland – AGRO SHOW, PSNC presented activities and initiatives carried out in the agri-food sector. The panel “Ways to strengthen the agricultural innovation ecosystem in Poland” was actively participated by the Deputy Director of PSNC – Krzysztof Kurowski, Ph.D. Also Marcin Plociennik (PSNC) presented our activities in agrifood sector and Szymon Kupiński (PSNC) presented the DEMETER pilot.

AGRO SHOW has been organized by the Polish Chamber of Commerce for Agricultural Machines and Facilities since 1999. The event, hosted every year in Bednary near Poznan, is a perfect place to present the latest and most modern agricultural machinery and equipment. It is also a comprehensive exhibition, during which manufacturers of fertilizers, seeds, plant protection chemicals, companies from the financial sector and other industries related to agriculture show their current offer. Thanks to this, farmers coming to the AGRO SHOW during the 4 days of the exhibition have the opportunity to see the complete offer of production methods and services for agriculture. They can also meet directly with representatives of all major institutions and agencies related to the agricultural industry in Poland.

During this year’s event, three projects implemented by PSNC were presented: SmartAgriHubs, DEMETER and eDWIN. SmartAgriHubs consolidates and promotes the pan-European network of Digital Innovation Hubs for Agriculture, and PSNC co-chairs the Regional Cluster of Northeast Europe, supporting and monitoring pilot projects in the region. DEMETER is a large-scale project dealing with interoperability challenges in agrotechnics. PSNC conducts a pilot on the use of innovative Internet of Things solutions for cooperation between apiary owners and farmers in order to increase the efficiency of agricultural production.

During the panel session, the eDWIN ecosystem project for implementing innovations in farm management was presented. The application, which will be released in mid-2022, will warn farmers against pests or bad weather. The project is created in cooperation with the Wielkopolska Agricultural Advisory Center in Poznan.
