Topping out ceremony of the hangar for UAVs in Kakolewo

On August 25 2022, the topping-out ceremony for the construction of a hangar for unmanned aerial vehicles took place at the airport in Kakolewo. The hangar, together with laboratory and research facilities, is being built as part of the project ‘Aerosfera. Airport of Things’, co-financed by the Marshal’s Office of the Wielkopolska Region with financement from the Wielkopolska Operational Programme 2014-2020 of the European Regional Development Fund.

The R&D infrastructure (Aerospace Lab) built by PSNC is an internationally unique, multidisciplinary laboratory for the application of technologies for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), autonomous systems, flight control and their safe operation. It will create potential for the region’s economic growth and scientific excellence, as well as optimal conditions for the development of scientific and industrial cooperation, the first effects of which are already visible in the form of new projects and events of local and international scope.

Partners in the Aerosfera project are Poznan University of Technology, the Wanda Modlibowska Poznan Aeroclub and the LARS company.

The ceremony, which was honoured by invited partners and guests, featured UAV flight demonstrations and the flights of ORLEN Aerobatic Group Zelazny.
