Workshop “Future: Soundtrack” at PSNC Future Labs

Workshop “Future: Soundtrack” at PSNC Future Labs

For three days (September 14-16), the “Future: Soundtrack” workshops organized by the Off Opera festival were held in the art & science space of PSCN Future Labs. The event on anthropology and sound ecology – in line with the idea of the Soundscape by R. Murray Schafer – was to make the participants think about how the sounds surrounding humans have changed over the decades and how they affect our everyday life. One of the workshop leaders was Jan Skorupa from the PSNC New Media Department.

During the classes in the spaces at 20 Zwierzyniecka Street, the participants listened to and analyzed field recordings from all over the world. During the field recording walk, the participants created their own sound documentation of the city of Poznan and designed their own audio vision of how the sound environment will change over the next 50 years. The final result of the workshop will be a multi-speaker soundart installation presenting the created sound vision. It will be presented on October 4, 2021 during the event inaugurating the Festival as part of the sound triptych in the room under the clock at the Zamek Culture Center.

The installation uses the ambisonic sound technology developed in the PSNC New Media Department.
