Bartłomiej Idzikowski was awarded the Medal of Honor by the Vietsch Foundation

This year’s edition of TNC Conference, to be held in Brighton in the first half of June, was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. The winners of the Medal of Honour, awarded annually by the Karel Vietsch Foundation, were announced during a specially organised on-line session on 11 June. The winners were Bartłomiej Idzikowski from PSNC’s New Media Department and Erik Kikkenborg from NORDUnet.

The jury turned out to be exceptionally unanimous – the winners were selected without any doubts. Erik Kikkenborg and Bartłomiej Idzikowski were distinguished for their exceptional commitment and support of the GÉANT community and the TNC Conference. The teams they lead have given the event a whole new quality. It is thanks to online broadcasts conducted by PSNC and NORDUnet that thousands of people from around the world can become part of the European research network and participate in the Conference, despite geographical barriers.

Over the past few editions, thanks to the cooperation of both teams, many innovative solutions have been introduced, such as an advanced audio-visual system with large-format high-resolution LED screens, multi-camera live broadcast using a professional camera arm or even the online registration service.

It has already been announced that next year’s Conference will be held in Brighton on 21-25 June.
